"Happy Thanksgiving!" by Deepen Doshi
Updated: Dec 16, 2020
Hi, it's Deepen. I hope everyone had a fun and a safe Thanksgiving holiday this year. There are various things I am thankful for this year, despite the ongoing pandemic and the hardships everyone is facing because of it:
Thankful for my wife for always being there supporting our family while I spend these 2 years in school.
Thankful for an excellent MBA experience that I am having, despite it being online. The Kenan-Flagler faculty has stepped up to the challenge and my fellow students and group mates are as empathetic and compassionate as ever.
To any 1st years who are reading this, looking for consulting internships over the summer, remember the following:
Most of your job applications are going to end up being rejected at some stage – either even before you get an interview, or sometimes after the 1st round, or sometimes at the final stage. Don’t feel pressured by it or don’t let that bother you. Remember, at the minimum, only 1 of your X number of applications needs to be converted to an offer.
There are still lots of things you can do – STAR stories for behavioral interviews, Cases (about time to get experience on off-beat cases) and Network (yes, it shouldn’t stop just because you sent in your application).
Your class is going through one of the toughest times in recent history. But it is going to make you all stronger for your own future and mold you into better leaders for the world. I can’t wait to see all that you all will achieve.
